Marion McGovern – Expert in the Gig Economy and Author of Thriving in the Gig Economy: How to Capitalize and Compete in the New World of Work

Marion McGovern is an expert in the Gig Economy and recently published a new book, “Thriving in the Gig Economy.” She founded two companies in the human capital arena, M Squared Consulting and Collabrus Inc. M Squared is a specialty consulting firm that uses independent consulting talent to help clients to solve critical business problems. It was a gig outsourcing company before that term was coined! Collabrus is a professional employer for gig workers while they are on engagements, allowing compliance with employment laws. In 2005, she sold the companies to The Kelly Group, a publicly traded company in South Africa. An expert in the dynamics of the senior independent talent market, she wrote the book “A New Brand of Expertise,” in 2001. Currently, she serves on the board of the publisher of the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator, where she is chairwoman of the Audit Committee. She is Chair of ReSurge International, a group that provides reconstructive plastic surgery to the poor around the world. For 9 years, she was an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Management, teaching HR and in 2013, she joined the Alliance of CEO’s as a Director. Marion is a Member of YPO Gold, the alumni organization of YPO (the Young President Organization) and is a Member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Dr. Mary Lamia has a career-long passion for encouraging emotional awareness in adults, adolescents, and pre-teens. She written severla books including “What Motivates Getting Things Done: Procrastination, Emotions, and Success” and “Emotions! Making Sense of Your Feelings.” Her blog posts for Psychology Today and Therapy Today websites illustrate her understanding of emotion and its significant role in who we become. With that same goal in mind, she is also a professor in the doctoral program of the Wright Institute in Berkeley and she has have a private practice in Kentfield, California.She won the 2012 Family Choice Award and the 2007 San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute and Society Distinguished Service Award, among my other awards.
