Backendless provides an environment to implement building an app visually without any coding. They provide a solution to make your app-building experience as efficient and enjoyable as possible, whether you are a brand new builder or a seasoned developer. Mark Piller talks about launching Backendless in 2012 and how the landscape has changed, and how he bootstrapped the company with no outside capital or funding. Mark came to the U.S. as a refugee from the former Soviet Union in the early 90s and approaches his business from a perspective of grit, determination, and gratitude. He has worked in a variety of corporate roles in organizations from small start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. Backendless has many invaluable Ukrainian team members and the impact on their culture has been important. A technologist and engineer at heart, Mark is proficient in several programming languages and specializes in architecting complex computing systems.

George Stephan started his career at global branding and advertising agencies including BBDO, FCB and Publicis working with brands like Pepsi, Unilever, Frito-Lay, Mars and others. Early on he learned the value of having a unique brand promise to help brands stand out from the crowd. He’s been helping brands succeed from my NYC based parent branding and digital marketing company called Stephan Partners and now from his personal branding and social selling company Watermelon Social. It began with updating his own personal branding and social selling outreach, doing it for friends, then other senior professionals and now corporate clients. Every business and entrepreneur needs to know how to properly present themselves and their brand, and George is the one to help them do that!
