Jerry Wilmink is Founder and CEO of WiseWear, a company that he founded in his San Antonio garage in 2013 after his grandfather passed away due to a fatal fall. On a mission to “right this wrong”, Jerry started WiseWear to develop wearable devices that would allow users to alert their loved ones in times of potential danger. He presently serves on the Board of Directors at Life Recovery Systems, a medical device business, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He also serves as an advisor for TechStars, the #1 startup accelerator in the world, and a handful of innovative startups. Jerry also is an advisor and panel review member for our country’s National Academy of Sciences NRC program, SMART, and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Programs (NDSEG). He has former experience as a start-up business consultant for Venture Capital firms, and a program manager for the Department of Defense’s $3 Billion Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. He has several patents, published 55 manuscripts, book chapters, and review articles, and has delivered over 100 keynote or plenary presentations at conferences including Consumer Electronics Show (CES), TEDMED, SXSW, and SPIE. In 2015, Jerry was selected as San Antonio’s Tech-Entrepreneur of the year and 40 Under 40. He also is a member of Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), named by Forbes as America’s most elite entrepreneur organization, and Forbes Technology Council.
