With a Masters in business administration marketing and a PhD in human services with an emphasis in self-image, there’s no better person to have on the air talk about your self-esteem as the owner of the business. She is a 2001 IMMIE winner and has obtained a First AICI master status from the association of image consultants. She also fits the entrepreneur bill. Dr. Allan J. Hamilton – Professor of Neurosurgery at The University of Arizona and Author of Lead with Your Heart . . . Lessons from a Life with Horses
Dr. Allan Hamilton started off his working life as a janitor. Today, he holds four Professorships in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, Psychology, and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona. He graduated from Harvard Medical School, did his surgical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.In 2000, Dr. Hamilton was selected as “One of the Outstanding Intellects of the 21st Century.” He has been chosen by his neurosurgical peers as “One of America’s Best Doctors” for fifteen consecutive years. Since 2004, Dr. Hamilton also serves as Director a think-tank of scientists and professionals, dedicated to finding methods and technologies to eliminate all preventable medical adverse events. In 2008, he wrote his first book, “The Scalpel and the Soul: Encounters with Surgery, the Supernatural, and the Healing Power of Hope,” where he describes spiritual side of medicine. He has appeared on national television, including the NBC Today Show CNN, and PBS and he has been a frequent guest on National Public Radio. Dr. Hamilton is currently entering his eighth season as medical script consultant for the television series “Grey’s Anatomy.” In his spare time, Dr. Hamilton is also renowned horse-whisper and trainer. A lifetime working with horses led him to write Zen Mind, Zen Horse—the Science and Spirituality of Training Horses in 2011. The book was awarded the Nautilus Gold Medal for nonfiction works of spirituality that “change the world one book at a time.” Previous recipients include Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Allan and his wife, Jane, are the subjects of an award-winning 2013 documentary by director Wayne Ewing, entitled “Playing with Magic. The film examines the myriad ways in which humans save horses and horses can save humans. Together, the Hamiltons run a ranch on the outskirts of Tucson where they search for new methods to further the practice, philosophy, and purpose of human-animal interactions.
