Shep Hyken

As a young child, Shep discovered his passion for magic. He started at the age of 10, and by 16, he was living every male adolescent’s dream of performing his trade at the Playboy Club.

Since then, Shep Hyken has become a different type of magician, a customer satisfaction magician. In fact, he wrote the book on the subject! It’s the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, The Amazement Revolution. Shep has leveraged the concepts of his book and his knack for magic and entertainment to transform himself into a world-class speaker. That’s right, as a small business who might be struggling in the customer service/ retention department, you can get great advice AND a magic show at one of Shep’s presentations.

His clientele has included giants like AT&T, American Express and Anheuser-Busch to name just a few. In 2008, he was inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame at the 2008 National Speakers Association Convention, one of only five! Hopefully he can teach us a few tricks on customer satisfaction. Though, we wouldn’t be opposed to learning how to saw someone in half either.

Urban ExpositionsDoug Miller

Doug Miller is a veteran of the trade show industry, focusing in the gift and merchandising markets. In 1996, Urban Expositions launched the Philadelphia Gift Show, an event that put his company on the map and also became one of most successful gift shows in the United States. Now located in Kennesaw, GA, his company has grown both through acquisitions and new shows, owning 21 shows total across the United States.

He has three new shows coming up in 2014, including a show in Chicago deemed the Windy City Trade Show. Through this show, Doug hopes to provide a platform that supports the area’s already-strong relationship between industry sales reps and buyers.

In this interview, we went in depth into his story and how he plans on growing Urban both in and beyond the Gift Trade Show business.
