Patrick D. Lyden, MD, a world-renowned stroke expert, is a Professor of Neurology and the Carmen and Louis Warschaw Chair in Neurology, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Professor Lyden has been one of the key researchers in the major clinical trial for t-PA, which remains the only proven and approved drug treatment for stroke. In addition to his work on tPA, Lyden led the world’s largest study of therapeutic cooling to reduce brain injury after stroke. Professor Lyden also has a laboratory effort called Lyden Laboratory, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), VA and American Heart Association, focused on translational preclinical stroke modeling, pharmacology, and vascular biology. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious William M. Feinberg Award for Excellence in Clinical Stroke by the American Heart Association.
