Andrea Kramer JD, (“Andie”) is an attorney and a partner in the international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery. She concentrates in derivatives, taxation regulation and design, financial products, Dodd-Frank implementation, energy and commodity trading, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. Praised for her significant contributions to tax policy, she is an influential voice in her field. While a practice group leader in financial products, trading, and derivatives for the firm, Andie is also a prolific author and global speaker in great demand. Andie is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law and she has served in senior management positions and has in-depth experience with all aspects of personnel management including recruiting, hiring and firing, individual and team supervision, compensation, and promotion. For more than 30 years, she has worked to promote gender equality in the workplace, mentoring literally thousands of women, and serving as sounding boards for others. With her husband, she has jointly written more than 30 professional and gender related articles and book chapters, collaborated in presenting many workshops, and spoken together to a variety of business groups.

Steve Kardian is a self-defense and criminal expert who regularly appears on television and in print. She has been on Dr. Phil, Inside Edition, Fox & Friends, CNN, the Today Show and in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, Cosmopolitan, Real Simple, and Men’s Journal. Through his organization, Defend University, he has taught over 200,000 women easy-to-use self-defense techniques and strategies. Steve believes that every woman is capable of decreasing the chances that she will be seen as an easy target, and increasing the chances of effectively protecting herself. He is a career law enforcement officer, life-long martial artist and has been training members of law enforcement since 1981. His passion for safety and self defense inspired him to start Defend University and the Women’s Self Defense Institute, a research group dedicated to creating leading edge strategies and techniques in the area women’s safety and self defense.
