Barbara E. Kahn PhD – Wharton Professor and Author of The Shopping Revolution: How Successful Retailers Win Customers in an Era of Endless Disruption

Barbara E. Kahn is the Patty and Jay J. Baker Professor of Marketing at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She served two terms as the Director of the Jay H. Baker Retailing Center. Prior to rejoining Wharton, she served as the Dean and Schein Family Chair Professor of Marketing at the School of Business Administration, University of Miami, Fla. Previously, she spent 17 years at Wharton as Silberberg Professor of Marketing. She was also Vice Dean of the Wharton Undergraduate program. Barbara is an internationally recognized scholar on retailing, variety seeking, brand loyalty, product assortment and design, and consumer and patient decision-making. She has published more than 75 articles in leading academic journals. She is the author of The Shopping Revolution: How Successful Retailers Win Customers in an Era of Endless Disruption. She also authored Global Brand Power: Leveraging Branding for Long-Term Growth and co-authored Grocery Revolution: The New Focus on the Consumer. Barbara has been elected president of Association for Consumer Research, elected president of Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) Policy Board and selected as a Marketing Science Institute Trustee. She was also an Associate Editor at JCR, Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science. She recently was elected as a Fellow for both the Association of Consumer Research and the Society of Consumer Psychology.

Jennifer Turnage is a serial entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in the technology and professional services industries, including ten years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, followed by serving as the chief financial officer for several investor-backed software companies. Jennifer and Megan Sumrell are co-founders of myBeeHyve, a woman-run software company that designs innovative productivity solutions for network marketers and direct sales entrepreneurs. Gen Z is reported to be more than 60 million strong in the U.S., making up 25.9 percent of the current population and 2017 marked the first full year with Generation Z in the workforce.  These new employees, born after 1995, have set their sights on becoming future movers and shakers and have new expectations around technology and a preference for the work-life blend.  Organizations need to understand Gen Z’s workplace preferences to effectively integrate these newcomers and create an intergenerational dialogue that enables all employees to be the best they can be. Sodexo’s 2018 Global Workplace Trends Report was shaped by interviews with leaders from different client segments, ranging from academia to civil society. Since joining Sodexo in June 1998, Marie-Hélène has held several senior positions such as Senior Marketing Director in Canada before joining Sodexo France in January 2008 as Executive Vice President, Marketing. Marie-Hélène returned to her hometown of Montreal in 2011 as Senior Vice President of Operations and was responsible for leading teams in designing and implementing Quality of Life Services central to the performance and growth of individuals and organizations throughout the Quebec region. In September 2013, she was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Services for all of Canada.  In September 2016, she was once again promoted to Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning for North America. Marie-Hélène has served on several Sodexo committees such as the Marketing Group Committee, the Better Tomorrow Plan Committee which guides and coordinates the worldwide sustainable development strategy, as well as the World Market Education Committee. Marie-Hélène is also a founding member of SWIFt, Sodexo Women’s International Forum for talent, which brings together senior leaders from around the world in support of Gender Balance initiatives. A current Board member of the Center for Women in Montreal, Marie-Hélène also served 3 years on the Board of Directors of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.  She is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) for the past 5 years, Marie-Hélène is also proud to be a godmother to Le Chaînon, a social assistance organization supporting women in difficulty.
