Judith Matloff is an international affairs author, journalism professor and media safety advocate. She teaches conflict reporting at Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. She has pioneered safety training for women and media around the world, helping hundreds of journalists face an increasingly dangerous world. Over 40 years as a journalist, she has covered top international stories including Rwanda’s genocide, apartheid and the rise of Vladimir Putin. Her stories about war and violence have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Economist, The Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal. Matloff’s work has been supported by the MacArthur Foundation, the Fulbright Scholar Program, the Logan Nonfiction Fellowship and the Hoover Institution. Matloff’s latest book, How to Drag a Body and Other Safety Tips You Hope to Never Need, shares her tried-and-true methods to help you confidently handle whatever challenges comes your way.
