Michael A. Carr – President and Chief Executive Officer of Calyxt and
Travis Frey, Ph.D. – Chief Technology Officer of Calyxt
Calyxt is a plant-based synthetic biotechnology company that focuses its business on engineering and manufacturing synthetic biology solutions. Plants are uniquely capable of producing compounds that can’t be produced through other means. The company estimates that more than 80 percent of all known natural compounds are able to be produced by plants. It has developed artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities in its technology platform PlantSpring™, which enable learning and adaptation from knowledge gained from past activity. When PlantSpring is integrated with newly commissioned pilot bioreactor, the BioFactory™, Calyxt will be able to rapidly prototype and produce plant-derived compounds without the need for outdoor cropping systems. Michael Carr joined Calyxt as a Director and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2021. Michael brings more than 20 years of business, financial, and operational leadership experience to Calyxt. He was previously the Vice
President of M&A, Strategy, and Innovation at Darling Ingredients, Inc., a global developer and producer of sustainable natural ingredients and renewable energy. Dr. Travis Frey brings over 15 years of experience in the agricultural industry and technology innovation to Calyxt.
