Derek Flanzraich – Founder & CEO at Greatist
Derek Flanzraich is an entrepreneur on a mission to help the world think about health in a more productive way. He is the founder and CEO of Greatist, a millennial-focused media startup that’s changing the narrative on health and wellness. Greatist was the result of Derek’s personal frustrations, growing up as a big kid who drank up to six Dr. Peppers a day and struggled to find a health brand he could trust. Now, Greatist is the fastest-growing media site in the digital health space, with nearly 10M unique visitors per month. The site was recently named Best Lifestyle Website on the Internet in both 2014 and 2015by the People’s Voice Webby Awards. Derek has a knack for building brands that stick. He’s been launching organizations since middle school, and every one of them is still thriving today. As a Harvard senior in 2010, Derek launched Harvard Thinks Big, a series of talks given by the University’s faculty. Before that, Derek launched the TV network Harvard Undergraduate Television, as well as a comedy news show On Harvard Time. Most recently, Derek held roles at Clicker (acquired by CBS) and on NBC Universal’s Digital Entertainment Strategy & Operations team. He has participated in speaking engagements at Harvard Business School, SXSW, Affiliate Summit, IDEA World Fitness Convention, and Oliver Wyman’s Healthcare Innovation Summit, among others.
