10 Aug August 11, 2025 – Can I Rent Your Pool? Bunim Laskin and OwnUp Jennifer Long
Bunim Laskin – Founder and CEO of Swimply
I started knocking on doors. I went on Google Earth to see who had pools
and who didn’t. I knocked on 80 doors, to be exact, and got four people
to agree to let me rent out their pools.

Bunim Laskin
On a hot day in 2018, as the oldest of 12 children, Bunim Laskin convinced his neighbor to let us use her pool for a fee. It sparked an idea. In 2019, Bunim launched Swimply, a platform that allowed people to rent private pools by the hour. Today, Swimply is available in 125 markets across the US, Australia, and Canada. It has expanded into pickleball, tennis, basketball, and entire homes and has raised $50+ million from Mayfield, Norwest, and GGV Ventures, as well as from the founders and CEOs of Airbnb, Poshmark, Instacart, and Lime Scooters.
