Andrea Cecile Cohen – Fashion Designer – Creator of the Intelligent Wardrobe and The Body Forum
Andrea Cecile Cohen, creator of clothing company number 35, has always shown an active interest in fashion and tailoring. She spent summer holidays working in her grandfather’s menswear factory which manufactured for Burberry and Burtons. Andrea watching the quality controllers nitpick over the smallest detail to ensure that the finished product left the factory faultless. She also helped out at her mother’s ladies wear store, and these two experiences helped develop her passion for clothing and retail. She started at luxury emporium Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly and then at retailing giant Next. She advanced to run the company’s flagship interiors department in Kensington High Street, as well as its restaurant. Following a successful four years with Czech & Speake, Andrea was approached by leading Dutch bed manufacturer Royal Auping to launch the company’s UK division. Within three years of building the brand, she was offered the role of Managing Director. In 2004, Andrea came up with the concept for number 35, designed to better the uninspiring and ill-fitting offerings available for modern business women on the high street and in department stores. Within ten months, she had learnt the art of how to design, pattern cut and source fabrics and, by 2005, had opened her very first showroom in Highgate, London. In 2013 Andrea began collaborating with Dan Lawson, acclaimed Emmy® nominated costume designer for popular CBS show, The Good Wife. Together they created the new 35DL online ready-to-wear collection on sale now in both the UK and US.
